I choose to create agreements that support my values and needs
Recently when an agreement was in jeopardy of being broken, I found myself turned about. Trying to remove the emotions out of the situation, I discovered that the real problem was that the agreement represented key needs such as trust, communication and safety. My theory is that relationships are ultimately built on the agreements made between two people. When an agreement is broken, so is what it represents.
I was able to explore this further as posting this on my facebook status created a stir where the majority believed that trust is the foundation to any relationship. This is where I insert my theory: trust is in fact the result of behaviours such as agreeing to communicate and to be honest with eachother. So then, do agreements not become the ultimate foundation?
